STRENGTH TRAINING

Strength training: Get stronger, leaner, and healthier

Strength training, also known as resistance training, is performing physical activities that are intended to develop strength and endurance. It is frequently related with weight lifting. It may also include other training techniques such as callisthenics, isometrics, and plyometrics.

When properly performed, strength training can provide significant functional benefits and improvement in overall health and well-being, including increased muscletendonligament, and bone strength and toughness, improved joint function, reduced potential for injury, increased bone den
sity, increased metabolism, increased fitness and improved cardiac function. Training commonly uses the technique of progressively increasing the force output of the muscle through incremental weight increases and uses a variety of exercises and types of equipment to target specific muscle groups. Strength training is primarily an anaerobic activity, although some proponents have adapted it to provide the benefits of aerobic exercise through circuit training.

Strength training often results in the accumulation of lactate in the muscles, which is a limiting factor in exercise performance. Regular endurance exercise causes skeletal muscle adaptations that can prevent lactate levels from increasing during strength training.

Strength training is essential or utilised as part of the training plan for numerous sports and physical activities.
